The morning that nearly didn't happen

An early fall goose morning near Horace, and the very ordinary reasons it almost got skipped.

Ordinary reasons

The alarm is set for a time that feels unreasonable. The truck needs fuel. Someone cannot find the second thermos. Every outing has a moment where staying home is clearly the sensible option.

The difference between the trips that happen and the trips that do not is almost never enthusiasm. It is whether the gear was ready and the plan was simple.

What the morning actually gives back

Light coming up over stubble. Somebody's kid learning to sit still because something is worth sitting still for. Coffee that tastes better outside than it has any right to.

You do not remember the hour of sleep. You remember the morning.

The part worth copying

Decide the night before. Pack the night before. Agree on the turnaround time. Tell someone where you are going.

Then go.

It's time to Get Wild.
