Why this page is honest instead of long
Plenty of outdoor sites publish reviews of gear nobody on staff has used. We would rather publish nothing than publish that.
WildGrid has no verified renter reviews yet. Writing glowing paragraphs about a kayak we have never paddled would make the whole site less trustworthy, including the parts that matter for safety.
What a review will require here
A completed rental on WildGrid, so the reviewer actually had the item in their hands.
The review attached to that booking, so it cannot be posted by someone who was never there.
The conditions it was used in — water, weather, distance, load — because a canoe that is lovely on a calm slough is a different boat in a crosswind.
The owner's right of reply, and the review left standing either way.
In the meantime
Ask the owner. They know their gear better than any listing description does, and the message thread is right there on the booking request.
Match gear to your actual trip rather than to the best trip you can imagine. Most rentals disappoint because they were the wrong size, not because they were poor quality.
